It is bounded by Oluyole Local Government of Oyo State in the north, in the west by Ijebu East Local Government, in the south by Ijebu North East, Odogbolu and Ijebu Ode Local Government, and in the east by Ikenne Local Government. Ijebu-North was divided into Ifelodun and Ijebu-Igbo Local Government in 1981 and later re-amalgamated in January 1984.
Agriculture is the economic mainstay of the people in Ijebu-North. They produce products like oil-palm, cocoa, coffee, kolanut, maize, yam, cassava, coco-yam, vegetables and poultry stock.
