About Kaiama, Nigeria
Kaiama is one of the Local Government Areas in Kwara state, Nigeria. It has its headquarters in Kaiama town. The LGA was founded around 1750 AD by a group of migrants. The founders originated from Nikki in the present day Republic of Benin. They had settled in Bweru, Gwasoro, Mosobaru, Kaºwa, Blesazi, Vobera, Bezira and Dazin before arriving at Kaiama. The people are largely farmers and famous in producing yam flour (Elubo). Western education was formally introduced in 1924. The people are predominantly Muslims.
Some notable settlements include Wazibe, Kabaru, Gwanagaji, Kemanji, Gwanabe,Gwaria, Woro, Bani and Gbajibo. There are ten wards in the Local Government Area which was created in 1989. The people speak Bokobaru majorly but has pockets of Fulani and Nupe areas. Natural resources found here include: gold, tantalite, wolfromite and granite.
